UNESCO Representative in Kazakhstan Krista Pickett arrives in Turkestan

Director of UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office, UNESCO Representative to Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan Krista Pickett visited the State Historical and Cultural Museum-reserve “Azret Sultan”.

The representative who arrived in the cultural capital of the Turkic world visited the Mausoleum of Khoja Akhmed Yassawi and the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Azret Sultan”.

Krista Pickett shared her impressions of the historic site: Turkestan is a region rich in cultural and historical monuments and reserves. Our goal is to protect these unique monuments and turn them into a tourist center.

During the meeting, Ersin Botabayevich, Acting Director of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Azret Sultan”, presented historical books published by the museum-reserve.

Participants of the Central Asian Conference of Ministers of Education “Central Asian Higher Education Space: Regional Cooperation, National Reforms in Turkestan visited the mausoleum of Khoja Akhmed Yassawi and honored the memory of their ancestors.

Daniyar Saduakassov, guide of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve-Museum “Azret Sultan” told the vice-ministers of education and science of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and representatives of European education about the cauldron, well, medieval library, big palace, and small palace inside the mausoleum of Khoja Akhmed Yassawi, mosque and dining room.
