The international round table «The legacy of Khoja Akhmet Yasawi and modern research» was held today in honor of the official opening of the Yasawi Science Center, the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve «Aziret Sultan».
In his speech at the third session of the National Kurultai entitled «Honest Man — Honest Work – Honest Income,» Head of State Kassym–Jomart Tokayev said: «It is necessary to pay special attention to the in-depth study and glorification of the legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, who made a huge contribution to the spread and establishment of Islam in the Great Steppe and laid the foundation for Sufi teachings in the Turkic the world. First of all, it is necessary to hold a special symposium on this issue, inviting scientists from our country and abroad.» The round table was organized as the first event of the Yasauvedenie Scientific Center on the eve of the International Symposium.
During the round table, which brought together scientists, cultural figures and public figures from Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan, important issues were raised on the following topics: «Scientific Center of Yasauiology: goals and prospects», «Foreign centers of yasauiology: source base, scientific approaches and methods used», «Scientific and practical significance of private foundations in studying and collecting the legacy of Khoja Akhmet Yasawi and his disciples.»
The event was moderated by Acting Director of the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve «Aziret Sultan» Nurlan Dukenbayev.
The first speaker at the round table was Saipulla Mollakanagatuly, head of the Yasauitanu Center, who presented the goals and work plan of the newly created scientific center. He also spoke in detail about common projects and interests in studying Yasawi’s legacy. According to the scientist: «Today it is scientifically proven that the Yasawi religion existed among the Kazakhs of Mongolia and the Kazakhs of China. According to written sources, the forms and legacy of Yasawi’s teachings are also found in Pakistan and India.»
Professor Ashirbek Muminov, the Research Center for Islamic History, Art and Culture of the Republic of Turkey (IRCICA) shared significant and meaningful hypotheses: The main work of scientific centers can yield good results only if it is based on a powerful database of data and literature, as well as a team of scientists with high scientific potential. The image of the Yasawi teaching, based on our «Hikmet», may change in accordance with the information of «Hadiqat al-arifin» and «Lamahat» (D. DiUis).
Omir Tuyakbayev, a senior researcher at the Scientific Research Center «Written Monuments and Spiritual Heritage» of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, called on young scientists to work hard to study and collect the heritage of Khoja Akhmet Yasawi and his students. Emphasizing the scientific and practical importance of private funds, ancient record data, and legal barriers to their storage.
During the discussion, several proposals of scientists were discussed and analyzed. It was noted that if practical measures are taken to popularize the teachings and legacy of our ancestor Khoja Akhmet Yasawi, that is, using the experience of the Maulana Museum located in Konya, Turkey, it is possible to increase the number of tourists visiting the city and popularize the works of Yasawi on the Sufi path.
Following the results of the round table, it was planned to systematize promising scientific research and implement partnership projects, accept proposals from foreign and domestic scientists to coordinate the work of the newly created Scientific Center named after Yasauivedenie.
