The tombstone of Jappas Turdykul Bi Kozhamkululy is stored in the fund of the reserve-museum with No. 905 a, b. In 1978–1982, Orientalist A. Derbisaliev translated the inscription on the stone from the Arabic language. The inscription states “… Қulla uly… this tombstone of Zhuban uly Turdykul… 1313 Hijri” 1884. “… from the clan of Kurmantai uly Talif Turdykul Jappas.” And in translation made by specialists in Arabic and Persian languages B.M. Babajanov, A.K. Muminov, Z. Zhandarbekov it sounds as follows: “Descendant of the Kurmanay tribe, Jafas (Jappas), the son of Kozhamkul Turdykul Bi. The stone was installed by the son of Turdykul Zhuman, according to the year of the Hijra – 1313” – which corresponds to our calendar 1895. M. Tuyakbayev “Historical personalities buried in Turkestan”, Almaty, 2000, p. 75. (Provided by the Archive of the research department of the Azret Sultan Reserve-Museum.) A. Derbisaliev made a mistake in determining the year of death – it is presumably 1894–1895. The translation of the prominent experts in Arabic and Persian languages B.M. Babadzhanov, A.K. Muminov, Z. Zhandarbekov is correct, however, the eighth of Bayuly’s twelve ancestors from Jappas Kydyrbai, his fifth descendant is the Kurmanai clan, and Jappas belonged to the younger Juzes, therefore, one of the ancestors of Bayuly said: “The descendant is Jafas (Jappas)”.
