The exhibition «Turkestan. Light of Millennia» in Kokshetau

Today, the Akmola Regional Museum of Local History in Kokshetau held the grand opening of the exhibition «Turkestan: The Light of Millennia,» dedicated to Republic Day on October 25.

The exhibition was organized in accordance with the instructions of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to widely promote the noble legacy of the great thinker and spiritual founder of the Turkic world, Khoja Akhmet Yasawi. The exhibition is a joint project of the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve «Azіret Sultan» and the Akmola Regional Museum of History and Local Lore, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the exhibition’s opening ceremony, the «Azіret Sultan» National Museum-Reserve and the Akmola Regional Museum of History and Local Lore signed a memorandum of cooperation. The agreement will allow the parties to collaborate on research, exhibition, and cultural projects, as well as exchange experiences in preserving and promoting historical and cultural heritage.

The exhibition featured the spiritual legacy of Yasawi, his students, and followers, as well as copper and clay lamps used by the inhabitants of the ancient city of Yasa. This created an analogy between two sources of light—the light of spiritual knowledge and material light. The exhibition’s goal is to demonstrate that, just as a person navigates in the dark by the light of a lamp, our ancestors unerringly found their way through spiritual space thanks to the light of Yasawi’s teachings.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by the advisor to the Akim of the Akmola region, statesman and public figure, writer Zh.E. Ergaliyev, the head of the Department of Culture of the Akmola region A.B. Sabitova, representatives of the Department of Religious Affairs, representatives of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan in Kokshetau, local historians, scientists, historians, and students.

The exhibition «Turkestan. Light of Millennia» will be open to the public until November 18, 2025.

K.Yskak, exhibition organizer.
