Kubba

Materials dedicated to the kubba are virtually absent in the scientific literature. The word «құбба» comes from Arabic and means “dome.” This interpretation is confirmed by the orientalist, Candidate of Historical Sciences A. A. Ivanov, as noted by Doctor of Historical Sciences M. Kozha in his works. In scholarly sources, the term «құбба» refers to spires or finials installed at the tops of domes. They are primarily characteristic of religious and architectural structures. Kubbas were made of ceramics, wood, or metal. Their construction is hollow, with a widened base and a conical upper part mounted on a sphere. The neck and the base are divided into bands and joints.
