EXCURSION WORK DEPARTMENT

The exposition and excursion department was formed in 2016. Since 2016, N. Tanatarov has been appointed head of the department. The department employs 10 guides and 18 museum supervisors. The main responsibility of the department’s staff is to provide museum visitors with guided tours in six languages (Kazakh, Russian, English, Turkish, Chinese, Arabic) and to conduct mass public outreach. Guided by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, they are working in the following direction:

Job responsibilities of tour guides:

  • According to the approved standards, guided tours are conducted at expositions, exhibitions, open-air collections and museum facilities;
  • Accordingly, changes and additions to the tour are being made to the new materials and suggestions of the methodologist;
  • Work is being carried out to improve the methods of conducting the tour;
  • They develop proposals and hearings on guided tours;
  • They participate in cultural and educational events

We must know:

  • The Law «On Culture » of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • Cultural history, ethnography, and archaeology, taking into account the peculiarities of all these professions;
  • Materials used as a basis for museum business;
  • New research and methodological literature on scientific and educational work;
  • Master the topic of guided tours and lectures, best practices in conducting guided tours and lectures from both domestic and foreign countries;
  • Fundamentals of the law «On Labor»

Official duties of museum curators:

  • At the moment of duty, they protect the exhibits entrusted to them from breakage and theft;
  • In case of loss or breakdown of exhibits, disciplinary, financial and criminal liability is brought in accordance with the established procedure;
  • Accepts exhibits before the museum opens, and transfers them according to the list after the end of working hours;
  • Monitors the cleanliness of the exhibits;
  • He is at his workplace at the time of duty, does not leave the workplace, if necessary, until the responsible person is approved for his place, and observes labor discipline;
  • Must know the rules of decency when dealing with visitors;
  • Observe the rules for familiarizing visitors with museum exhibits;
  • Observe the fire safety rule in the museum-reserve;
  • Know the Laws «On Culture», «On Labor Protection» of the Republic of Kazakhstan, safety regulations, industrial sanitation and fire safety.
