On July 10, in accordance with the directive of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Kemeluly Tokayev to promote the legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the official opening ceremony of the international exhibition “Ancient Turkistan and the Legacy of Yasawi”, organized by the “Azret Sultan” National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was held at the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan E.A. Karamurzina, The Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Ufa, S.M. Pilyugin, member of the Administrative Council of the Kazakh National Cultural Center “Aq Bata” in Bashkortostan, M.B. Ramazanova, Acting Director of the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve“Azret Sultan”, N.M. Dukenbayev, as well as university leaders and faculty members from local higher educational institutions.
The exhibition features over 200 valuable artifacts and unique archaeological finds related to the history of ancient Turkistan — a major center along the Great Silk Road. Among the items on display architectural elements, photographs reflecting the image of the Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Mausoleum, built by the order of Amir Temir, medieval numismatic objects, ceramic items, and other historical treasures. Special attention given to the life and spiritual heritage of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the prominent 12th-century philosopher and founder of the Sufi tradition, whose teachings had a profound impact on the spiritual culture of the entire Turkic world.
The exhibition also explores the influence of Yasawi’s teachings on the Muslim communities of the Volga and Ural regions, including spiritual leader and 14th-century Qazi Hussain-bek, who iburied in a mausoleum located in Bashkortostan now.
During the event, was signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Azret Sultan” and the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan. The exhibition will run until August 3, 2025.
