🔹 Today, on the initiative of the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Äziret Sultan”, the ceremonial opening of the exhibition “Turkestan – Light of Millennia” took place at the Shieli District Historical and Local Lore Museum.
According to the annual plan of the museum-reserve, the 2025 republican exhibition season was scheduled to conclude with the opening of this exhibition at the Kyzylorda Regional Historical and Local Lore Museum.
However, our colleagues from Kyzylorda proposed that the spiritual and educational value of the exhibition should be accessible not only to city residents but also to district communities. This initiative received support, and it was decided to hold the traveling exhibition in Zhanakorgan and Shieli districts.
🔹 The ceremonial opening was attended by Galymzhan Karimov, Deputy Akim of Shieli District; Murat Tastanbekov, Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Äziret Sultan”; members of the District Veterans Council; representatives of the Youth Resource Center; specialists in education and culture; archival staff; and local residents.
🔹 The exhibition presents valuable materials related to the history of the city of Turkestan. Of particular interest are archaeological finds from the Sherbai and Shpan burial sites, as well as historical artifacts from the Shaugar–Shoytobe and Yasy–Kultobe settlements.
Additionally, visitors can view the first Turkic translation of the Holy Quran from the 10th century, selected works of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi — “Diwani Hikmet”, “Pakyrnama”, and valuable manuscripts left by his students.
🔹 The main purpose of the exhibition is to widely promote the historical significance and spiritual heritage of the great thinker, shared across the Turkic world, Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, as well as to introduce the public to the works of his students and followers.
At the end of the event, employees of the National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Äziret Sultan” were presented with letters of appreciation and special gifts on behalf of the district akim.
