On July 10, at the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the grand opening of the international exhibition “Ancient Turkistan and the Heritage of Yasawi” took place, presented by the “Aziret Sultan” National Historical and Cultural Reserve-Museum. The event was organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s directive to promote the heritage of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi.
The opening ceremony was attended by Elmira A. Karamurzina, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan; Sergey M. Pilyugin, Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan in Ufa; M.B. Ramazanova, member of the Administrative Council of the Kazakh National Cultural Center “Aq Bata”; Nurlan M. Dukenbayev, Acting Director of the “Aziret Sultan” National Reserve-Museum; as well as university leaders and faculty members from local higher education institutions.
The exhibition showcases over 200 unique artifacts linked to the history of ancient Turkistan, a major hub of the Great Silk Road. Highlights include architectural elements depicting the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, built by the order of Amir Temir; photographs; medieval coins; ceramics; and other valuable relics.
Special emphasis is placed on the life and legacy of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the prominent 12th-century philosopher and founder of the Sufi tradition, whose teachings had a profound impact on the spiritual culture of the Turkic world. Visitors also learn about the influence of Yasawi’s ideas on Muslims of the Volga and Ural regions, including the 14th-century qazi and spiritual leader Khusein-bek, who is buried in present-day Bashkortostan
As part of the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the “Aziret Sultan” National Reserve-Museum and the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
The exhibition will run until August 3, 2025.
